“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, the new creation is made: the old is gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17
Among the things that impress me about God, one of them is His ability to create. When we talk about creation, our minds take us straight to Genesis 1, and we often think about what God has created. But God "IS" (in capital letters) Creator and not “was” Creator. This difference in verb tenses shows that God’s creative ability to create things is active because it is part of God’s being.
In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, the new creation is made: the old is gone, the new is here!” As the verse above says, He not only creates but also recreates and transforms things and people. And this is even more splendid. If you’ve ever thought about changing a habit, you know what I’m talking about.
For example, I have been trying for a few months to wake up earlier to exercise in the mornings and get it done earlier. But as much as I love swimming, it’s tough to get into the new habit of going to the pool every morning (Please pray for me).
As tricky as a change is, it is still possible for the One who created us. If we understand this idea, we will change for a better version of ourselves (this is the version God intends for us), and how we interact with people will also change.
Our Creator can transform every single person. So no matter how far they are from God, they can come back to their heavenly Father and get changed by His power.
Not only with them, but I also love to think that the Creator is constantly working in our lives so we can be better versions of ourselves for His glory. When we live in Christ, the Christlike nature is in us, and we do not live according to the world’s point of view anymore. We now live by Christ’s standards. I know it sounds difficult, but we can always ask the One who knows us better for help. David knew this and asked God, “Create in me a pure heart” (Psalm 51:10).
So... What do you need to renew in your life? What will you ask God to create in you? What has God already created in you?
Keep in mind that He can make everything new.
