Right now, Artificial Intelligence is writing a sermon. Right now, it is creating a deep fake with voice, visage, and manner—it could be anyone, president or pope. It could be me; it could be made to say anything. AI gives answers to every question we can think to ask. AI wins chess games as easily as arguments. Well known to programmers, AI also hallucinates. Meanwhile where the machines have not yet conquered, politicians get more mileage out of misinforming the public than from truth telling. News organizations platform analysts and back-shelf factual reporting. Social Media companies feed us “information” that their algorithms predict will make them the most money. It is almost impossible to know what’s true and what’s not. It’s very hard to not be a party to the commodification of corruption. In the push and pull of this information scrum is one side’s propaganda “God’s side?” Is it possible for truth to exist, let alone prevail when every sort of gaslighting is green-lighted?
